Physiological functions and effects of papain

Antibacterial
Patients with acne vulgaris were studied through a multicenter, randomized, self-controlled clinical trial approach. The results showed that after one month of continuous use of papain-containing skin care products, the skin lesions were significantly improved.

Anti-thrombotic
Papain can inhibit platelet aggregation reaction and thus has anti-thrombotic effect.

Application of papain
Papain is mainly used to cut hard meat fibers and has been used by indigenous peoples of South America for thousands of years. It can also be used at home to treat stings from jellyfish, bees, wasps, etc. or manta ray stings. In addition, it is also an ingredient in some toothpaste or mint candies, which helps whiten teeth. It also has applications in cell culture and debridement surgery.

The production of papain is usually carried out in the form of a crude product, mainly derived from the dry product made from the emulsion extracted from the fruit of the papaya tree. The emulsion is collected by cutting the neck of the fruit and either air-dried directly on the fruit or dripped into a container. Purified papain can be made into dry powder or liquid.

Limits of use of papain
my country has approved papain as a food additive, which can be added according to production needs. The usage amount is 0.5~5mg/kg.
