Dancing With Change, 2024 Vland Biotechnology Innovation Sharing Annual Conference Was Held

On June 12, 2024, the "Dancing with Change - 2024 Blue Biotechnology Innovation and Sharing Annual Conference" hosted by Blue Bio was held in Qingdao High-tech Zone. This conference focused on industry hotspots, conducted in-depth discussions on synthetic biology and artificial intelligence and industry applications, and displayed the innovative achievements of Blue Bio in various fields. This conference also set up three thematic sub-forums, including synthetic biology and animal nutrition, animal health, and marine life, to discuss and exchange hot topics with industry colleagues.


Eight well-known experts and professors from scientific research institutions and universities attended the meeting and delivered keynote speeches. Nearly 800 people, including leaders of more than 100 outstanding companies in the industry, Blue Partners and Blue Technology Innovation Team, attended the meeting.
Dancing with Change Main Forum

Lu Yang, deputy secretary of the Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone Working Committee, executive deputy director of the Management Committee, and deputy secretary of the Chengyang District Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a welcome speech.

Mr. Chen Gang, the head of Vland Biotech, delivered a keynote speech titled "Dancing with Change". He focused on sharing Vland Biotech's integrated innovation system combined with cases. He said that integrated innovation capability is the cornerstone of Vland ecological strategy and also Vland comparative advantage. Based on integrated innovation capability, it is possible to establish a broader ecological cooperation and build Vland Biotech into the best platform for the integration and transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the best platform for enabling industrial innovation and upgrading.
During the main forum report session, industry experts and professors from fields such as nanozymes, synthetic biology, and artificial intelligence shared wonderful keynote speeches, deeply analyzing the current innovation environment and future development directions.

Researcher Gao Lizeng from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a detailed explanation of the characteristics of the new generation of artificial simulated enzymes, nanozymes, with the theme of "Research on Nanozymes and Bionic Antibacterial Applications". He also introduced the laboratory's research results based on nanozymes simulating immune cell multi-enzyme catalytic sterilization with cases.

Researcher Wang Yu from the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, took the theme of "Biomanufacturing: The "New Force" for Developing New Quality Productivity" and explained in detail the development, existing problems, trends and key directions of biomanufacturing. He also introduced the application of biomanufacturing in strain creation using experimental research as an example.

Professor Hong Liang, Vice Dean of the Chongqing Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, took the topic of "General Artificial Intelligence for Protein Engineering Based on Pre-training" and started from the underlying logic of AI technology. With the help of cases, he explained in detail the application and advantages of AI models in protein engineering technology in an easy-to-understand manner.

Researcher Tao Yong from the Key Laboratory of Microbiology and Metabolic Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences took the theme of "Building an Efficient Chassis to Assist Biopharmaceuticals" and proposed that biomanufacturing is a new way of producing materials stimulated by the molecular revolution and industrial needs. High-efficiency chassis strains are the cornerstone for achieving a biomanufacturing penetration rate of more than 30%. He also explained in detail the construction and transformation of high-efficiency chassis strains with cases.

At the end of the main forum report, the chief scientists and leaders from Vland Bio-enzyme, animal nutrition, animal health, and microecological innovation platforms presented their innovative achievements.
Synthetic Biology and Animal Nutrition Forum

Researcher Lyu Xuefeng, Director of the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Process Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Shandong Synthetic Biotechnology Innovation Center, took the theme of "Synthetic Biotechnology and Green Biomanufacturing of Agrochemicals" and gave a detailed introduction to the application of synthetic biology in agrochemicals. He also made in-depth thinking and discussion on the development of the synthetic biotechnology industry.

Researcher Zhuang Yingping, Director of the National Biochemical Engineering Technology Research Center (Shanghai) of East China University of Science and Technology, took the theme of "Synthetic Biology and Intelligent Biomanufacturing" and introduced in detail the basic characteristics of bioreaction process engineering, optimization and amplification technology of fermentation process of bulk fermentation products, and preliminary exploration of intelligent biomanufacturing research and application. He also deeply analyzed typical applications such as intelligent optimization and regulation of erythromycin biomanufacturing process, intelligent industrialization demonstration of biological process, and optimization research of sophorolipids based on online sensing technology and modeling.

Dr. Wang Xu, General Manager of Evonik Blue Biotech (Shandong) Co., Ltd., took the theme of "Evonik Blue's Market Mission and Product Solution Innovation" and combined the R&D advantages of Evonik and Blue in biotechnology system solutions and applied research. He was market-oriented and focused on the development and application of animal intestinal health products and solutions, providing customized solutions for the problem of enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens in poultry farming.

Mr. Guo Jiyuan, chief scientist of the Blue Bio-Source Shared Laboratory, took the theme of "Quality Strategy under the Situation of Diversified Feed Raw Materials" and gave a precise summary on the management and evaluation of the quality of diversified feed raw materials, and also gave a wonderful explanation on the evaluation of the quality of antioxidants for feed.

Huang Qinghua and Dr. Jin from the Animal Nutrition Business Platform of Blue Biotech gave wonderful presentations on the precise services and innovative achievements of Blue Biotech's animal nutrition with the themes of "Precise Use and Value Enhancement of Barley" and "Product Report on Phospholipid Emulsifiers" respectively.

The roundtable discussion of the forum was hosted by Dr. Lv Mingbin, a senior technical expert in livestock and poultry nutrition. Researcher Tao Yong from the Key Laboratory of Microbial Physiology and Metabolic Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ms. Jin Hongyu, Vice President of Hopeful Group, Mr. Wang Youcheng, Chairman of Bunge Technologies, Dr. Cao Ningjun, Vice President of R&D for Asia Pacific of ADM, Mr. Chen Gang of Azure Biotech, and Dr. Wang Huaming of Azure Biotech, who had in-depth exchanges on the topics of synthetic biology, human nutrition, and animal nutrition, and explored new models of cross-border cooperation.
Animal Health Forum

Yang Bitao, President of Blue Bio's Animal Health Business, shared Blue Animal Health's strategic planning, proposing that based on Blue Animal Health's three core capabilities of first-class chassis technology (hardware + process + R&D), first-class product quality (star-level product structure group) and first-class service system (four-in-one), Blue Animal Health is fully capable of using internal certainty to deal with external uncertainty, providing system solutions based on user pain points, and contributing value to healthy breeding.

Dr. Xu Hongjun, Chief Scientist of Vland Biotech Biological Products Technology Center and Technical Director of Vland Vaccine, shared the report "R&D and Manufacturing of Vland Vaccine High-Quality Products Based on New Process Technology Integration". After years of research and development, Vland Vaccine has made great breakthroughs in animal vaccine antigen manufacturing chassis technologies such as large-scale cell suspension culture technology, subunit protein efficient expression technology, and whole-cell high-density industrial fermentation technology. The relevant processes have matured and are about to be fully put into industrial application. Combined with the joint application of high-efficiency purification processes such as double ultrafiltration and targeted separation, immune enhancement technology, and new heat-resistant protection technology, Vland Vaccine has created a highly competitive and cost-effective product based on the integration of multiple new process technologies, providing better products and better choices for vaccine immunization prevention and control of major animal diseases in my country.

Dr. Zhang Yan, Chief Scientist of Vland Biochemical Technology Center and Director of R&D of Kangdien Animal Pharmaceuticals, shared the report "R&D Innovation and Efficient Application of Kangdien Me-better Products", expounding on the path and direction of veterinary drug innovation, as well as the development status of veterinary drug companies after the new version of GMP, and demonstrated Kangdien's advantages and competitiveness in veterinary drug R&D and production. The latest innovative achievements of Kangdien were introduced in detail, including the first domestic imitation Kangqiuqing (Toltrizuril Suspension), Kangtejian (Compound Butafosfos Injection) and other star products, injecting new vitality into the high-quality development of the breeding industry.

Dr. Wang Xiaolong, Product Technology Director of Kangdien Pharmaceutical, shared the report "Effective Prevention and Control of Major Epidemics in Pig Farming under the New Situation". In view of the major epidemics currently faced by pig farming, he analyzed the prevalence of major diseases and the key points of prevention and control of different virulence strains, and emphasized the underlying logic and audit inspection system of biosafety system construction. In view of the prevention and control of dust in the north, he proposed the importance of pig house sealing and the configuration method of air filtration system, providing customers with a complete set of systematic solutions for disease prevention and control.

Dr. Kang Zhen, General Manager of Weifang Norda Pharmaceuticals, shared the report "Building an Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Ecosystem, Innovating Chinese Veterinary Medicine R&D and Customer Service", and introduced Norda's development ideas for Chinese veterinary medicine: to expand large Chinese medicine products based on crude wild licorice extracts, and provide customers with better and more cost-effective choices in disease prevention and control and production performance improvement; to strengthen a new class of veterinary medicines based on Echinacea, and provide customers with Echinacea powder, Echinacea oral liquid, etc., to better balance the immunity of farmed animals and enhance disease resistance, resist stress, and reduce the harm of viral diseases to the body.
Marine Biology Forum

Professor Tian Xiangli of Ocean University of China took the theme of "Discussion on the Current Research Status and Development Trends of Aquatic Postbiotics" and shared the development of aquatic microecological preparations, the functions and principles of action of postbiotics, the current status of postbiotic research and application, etc. He also put forward ideas and suggestions on the definition disputes, detection methods, regulatory frameworks, application basis, scientific evidence-based research and other aspects of postbiotics.

Wang Lei, a researcher at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared the characteristics, problems and technical improvements of the main shrimp farming models with the theme of "Innovation in Aquaculture Technology Empowers the Upgrading of the Shrimp Industry". He focused on analyzing the RAS shrimp farming technology and the key technologies of small-shed shrimp farming, and proposed a variety of effective measures to reduce costs and increase efficiency in shrimp farming.

Dr. Wang Lei, General Manager of Vland Shengke and Technical Director of Qingdao Master, took the theme of "Principles of Intestinal Damage and Development of Postbiotic Products". Based on the fact that the essence of the principle of intestinal damage is epithelial tissue damage, he introduced the secret of the role of postbiotics in the aquaculture industry and conducted an in-depth discussion on how to obtain the best strains from a large number of strains.

Dr. Yuan Weiwei, Senior Product Manager of Plant Microecology at Blue Bio, took "Product Development Guided by Customer Needs" as the theme, combining the functional bacterial agent product development process with the process of solving problems for customers and meeting customer needs, and converting customer needs into strain screening evaluation indicators. He used the Blue M-H-R strain screening and identification technology platform to screen dominant functional bacteria, optimize the fermentation process, and evaluate product effects based on customer application scenarios, thereby providing customers with the best solutions.

Vland Biotechnology has a technical innovation team of nearly 300 people led by 37 doctors. Many young talents with solid professional skills and strong teamwork ability have gradually become the backbone of Vland's technological innovation.

During the conference, the Blue Biotech Young Scholars Forum was held, inviting 9 outstanding R&D personnel to share cutting-edge technology information and innovative achievements in many fields, including comprehensive microbial management technology for livestock and poultry manure, the application of intelligent computing in enzyme research and development, rabbit plague vaccine development, and the application of yeast extracts in poultry production.
